NEW DELHI: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has signed a long-term agreement with global technology company InMobi, granting it naming rights for Ibbaluru Metro Station for 30 years. The agreement involves a total contractual commitment of ₹65 crore, excluding GST, and the station will now be known as InMobi Ibbaluru Metro Station.

The partnership aims to strengthen Bengaluru's public transport infrastructure while encouraging greater participation from private companies in urban development. The agreement is also expected to support BMRCL's efforts to generate non-fare revenue, providing an additional source of funding for metro infrastructure and operations.

Dr P. C. Jaffer, IAS, Managing Director of BMRCL, said the partnership demonstrated how corporate organisations could contribute to the development of public transport infrastructure. He noted that the ₹65-crore agreement would support metro infrastructure development and strengthen the corporation's non-fare revenue initiatives. He also expressed hope that more companies from Bengaluru's corporate sector would participate in similar initiatives.

Naveen Tewari, Founder and CEO of InMobi, said Bengaluru had played a significant role in the company's journey from a home-grown startup to a global technology business. He said the partnership reflected InMobi's commitment to contributing to the city that provided the foundation for its growth. Tewari added that businesses had a responsibility to support the communities and cities in which they operate.

Dr Subi Chaturvedi, Global Senior Vice President, Chief Corporate Affairs and Public Policy Officer at InMobi, said accessible public transport was essential to a city's development, as it connected people with workplaces, educational institutions and other opportunities. She said the collaboration with BMRCL represented a long-term commitment to Bengaluru's infrastructure and aimed to create public value through investments that would benefit citizens across generations.

Founded in Bengaluru, InMobi has grown into a global technology company with operations across multiple international markets. The agreement represents a long-term investment in the city and reflects the company's intention to contribute to its urban development beyond its core business activities.

The partnership also comes amid Bengaluru's continuing efforts to address traffic congestion, rising vehicle numbers and environmental challenges associated with rapid urbanisation. Expansion of metro connectivity and greater use of public transport are considered important measures to improve mobility and reduce dependence on private vehicles.

Through the 30-year naming rights arrangement, BMRCL and InMobi aim to demonstrate how public-private partnerships can support urban infrastructure development while creating additional revenue opportunities for public transport agencies. The collaboration highlights the growing role of corporate participation in building more connected, accessible and sustainable cities.
